Karen Ogden, CFP®
Karen is a partner at Envest Asset Management (EAM) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner. At EAM she co-designs the firm’s investment and financial planning strategies. She is also instrumental in producing EAM’s educational initiatives and financial commentary.
As a champion for sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, she was instrumental in implementing unique carbon initiatives at Bank of America. In that role, she connected the institutional commodities trading desk with the environmental initiatives of the overall bank. This included launching a carbon offset credit card with MBNA in Canada and managing the institutional commodities’ desk’s relationship with the Chicago Climate Exchange and various carbon offset providers.
Karen recognized that the private sector and global capital markets can play a proactive role in addressing some of the challenges that face our society today. And with her passion and expertise in sustainability and financial markets she positioned herself as a sustainable and ESG-focused financial planner and investment advisor after obtaining her CFP® certification.
Prior to joining EAM, Karen worked at the Chicago Board of Trade, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Bank of America, Amherst-Pierpont Securities, Guggenheim Partners, and Purkiss Capital Advisors. Her financial expertise includes economic data analysis; financial product development and education; business management; human resources; regulatory compliance; and financial planning and investing.
Outside of work she was formerly on the board of various non-profit organizations and, while a resident of Ridgefield, CT, was an elected member of the Board of Finance of the town of Ridgefield, CT. She now resides in Dorset, VT with her husband in their recent role of empty nesters. Karen is a graduate of Boston College with a B.S. in Finance and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where she earned an MBA. Karen also completed a 5-course graduate certificate in Sustainability through Harvard University’s Extension School.
As my career evolved, I came to realize that working with individual investors and helping them realize critical financial goals was something that would bring me a great deal of satisfaction. Helping people connect their personal values to their investments makes the planning relationship even more impactful and personal.”
